Monthly Favorites: February 2019 + Playlist
I’m back again with another Monthly Favorites roundup, and I’m here to share everything I was obsessing over in the month of February. February flew by in the blink of an eye, and I can’t believe we’ve already made it to the month of March. I’m looking forward to some warmer days ahead!
If I’m being honest, the greatest thing to come out of February was the Jonas Brothers announcing their reunion. I’ve been a “sucker” for the Jonas Brothers since elementary school (if you know, you know), and my love for the band is still going strong. They announced the reunion on my birthday, so I like to think my Spotify streaming of their music played a part in bringing the band back together. 😉
Anyways, let’s get on to my February Favorites:
Entertainment
Lately, I’ve been obsessed with the show, Good Trouble. It’s a spin-off of The Fosters, which follows Callie and Mariana through their struggles and adventures of living together as young adults in LA. I was so sad to see The Fosters end, so I’m glad they made this show, and that it’s actually really good so far. They’ve already brought on some of their family members as special guests, so I can’t wait to see what else the show has in store. You can watch episodes on Freeform’s website, or on Hulu.
Skin Care
Dry skin is something I’ve struggled with my whole life. I don’t like wearing makeup often because it makes my skin even more flaky. Recently, I’ve been experimenting with different moisturizers and skincare products to come up with a routine to help combat my dry skin. I recently purchased two products in the Neutrogena Hydro Boost line.
I started off with the Neutrogena Hydro Boost gel-cream for extra dry skin. It made a big difference on its own, compared to other moisturizers I’ve used in the past. I decided to also try the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Serum, and when combined with the gel-cream, they were almost life-changing! My face has never felt so soft. Both of these skin care products can be on the pricier side, but a little goes a long way. I also think it’s worth investing in something that works a lot better than other products on the market.
Makeup
I’ve always been envious of those who get eyelash extensions, but I don’t want to pay the price or deal with the upkeep. A while back, a makeup artist who did my makeup for a friend’s wedding, told me her secret to long natural eyelashes was using a lash serum. I decided to start off with Maybelline’s Lash Sensational Boosting Eyelash Serum, because I could easily find it at Walmart, and it had pretty good reviews.
The package says to apply it day and night for 4 weeks to see the best results. I wish I had taken some before and after pictures, but I got too excited to try it out and I forgot. I can definitely see a difference in the length of my eyelashes. Some reviews say they noticed the loss of fewer lashes with makeup removal, but I unfortunately didn’t notice a difference there. I did notice that my mascara went on thicker on days when I put the lash serum on beforehand, which I liked. I’d say that I would purchase this one again, but I’m also open to try other serums if anyone has any recommendations.
Music
This month was a good one for music. I was obsessed with The Chainsmokers and 5 Seconds of Summer’s collaboration on “Who Do you Love.” Simple Creatures also released their second single “Strange Love,” which I’ve had on repeat. I also recently came across the band Point North, and I’ve been obsessed with their song “Gasoline” off their newest EP. If you missed it, I featured two of these artists on my last post, so be sure to check that out!
