Monthly Favorites: April 2020

Can you believe it is MAY already? Has time been flying by for anyone else while in quarantine? I also can’t seem to keep track of what day it is and keep having to look at the calendar on my phone. Since we’re at the beginning of a new month, it’s time for another Monthly Favorites post. Here’s everything from the past month I’ve been obsessed with:

Food

Avocado Toast

I love avocado toast and I’ve made it myself before, but I recently bought Everything Bagel seasoning from Walmart and it is a GAME CHANGER. I also started putting cream cheese on my avocado toast and it adds even more flavor. My favorite avocado toast recently has consisted of cream cheese, Everything Bagel seasoning, and cherry tomatoes. Every once in a while I will swap out the tomatoes for an egg.

Egg Cooker

Speaking of eggs, I’m lazy when it comes to cooking so I purchased an egg cooker from Amazon. All you have to do is crack or load your eggs into one of the trays, add water and it cooks your eggs on its own! It takes a little getting used to, and you have to pay attention to the size of eggs you’re using. If you only have large or extra-large eggs, you’ll have to let the eggs cook a little longer after the timer goes off. Once you get used to it, it is so helpful! I love being able to work from home and start my breakfast and let it cook while I’m working.

Nerds Candy

My boyfriend and I were craving candy one day, so I went and looked at all the different options at the store. I came across this new kind of Nerds called Sour Big Chewy Nerds. They are so addicting if you can handle a little bit of sour. I’d say they are more sour than sour gummy worms, but way less sour than Warheads (if you’re a wimp like me). 

Entertainment

Parasite

I have been wanting to see the movie Parasite since it was in theaters and a friend told me about it. It was released on Hulu this month and YOU NEED TO WATCH IT. I honestly didn’t know what to expect when I started it, and the movie is in all subtitles, but don’t let that turn you away from it. It has easily become one of my favorite movies now and I think everyone should watch it if you can! If you’re looking for other things to watch on Hulu or Netflix, check out my list of things to watch.

Jumanji: The Next Level

My boyfriend and I were looking for a new movie to watch and we found this one to rent through FandangoNOW. I will admit, I didn’t like this movie at much as Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (or Parasite for that matter), but I still thought it was a good follow up to the first one. I thought many of the scenes with the grandpa (played by Danny DeVito) and his former business partner (Danny Glover) were hilarious. If you enjoyed Welcome to the Jungle, then I recommend you give this one a shot too. 

Evil Apples

If you’ve been looking for ways to stay entertained while in quarantine and also stay connected to friends or family, then I recommend you download this app called Evil Apples. It is basically an online version of Cards Against Humanity, but with different card packs. Every time you play, you earn points that you can redeem for new packs. And yes, it is just as bad as Cards Against Humanity (if not worse), which can make it even funnier at times.
