Monthly Favorites: May 2019
May was a month full of many changes for me. If you’re a returning reader, you may have noticed my lack of posting this past month. At work, I was recently asked to travel to another store to help with their remodel. Since joining the remodel, I’ve switched shifts, and I’ve also pretty much doubled the amount of hours I was previously working. To say I’ve been exhausted is an understatement.
Rather than burn myself out with my blog, I decided it was best to give myself a break. I want my blog posts to be the best that they can possibly be, so I didn’t want to force myself to push out blog posts when I wasn’t able to focus or didn’t have the energy to write. I’m starting to gain back energy and feel inspired to write. I’m looking forward to sharing all of my summer content with you guys!
Now, let’s move on to my May Monthly Favorites:
Wendy’s Frosty Cookie Sundae
If you love a vanilla Frosty from Wendy’s and chocolate chip cookies, then this one is for you. It’s basically a Vanilla Frosty with chunks of chocolate chip cookies with Ghirardelli chocolate sauce drizzled on top. If you’re looking for a budget alternative to a pizookie, then you need to try this. Be sure to try it before it leaves Wendy’s restaurants!
Twisted Ranch Garlic Smashed Buffalo Dressing
I’ve heard so many great things about the Twisted Ranch restaurant in St. Louis. I’ve unfortunately not had the opportunity to go there yet, but I did convince my boyfriend’s dad to try it on a work trip! As soon as they released the Twisted Ranch dressings at Walmart, he picked a couple flavors for us to try out. My favorite so far is the Garlic Smashed Buffalo Dressing. It’s goes good on a chicken sandwich, or great to dip wings in! So good.
Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists
I was late to the party and didn’t start watching Pretty Little Liars until the final season aired on tv. After the series ended, I heard they were making a spin-off called Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists. I didn’t know what to expect of the spin-off at first, but now that I’ve finished the first season, I can say that it is so addicting! The only two characters from the original series that are featured in this show are Alison and Mona. You get to see into their lives as they both end up working at the same school. The final episode of the first season has me dying to know what is going to happen next. I think this show has a lot of potential for future seasons.
Pokémon Detective Pikachu
I’ve been a Pokémon fan ever since I can remember. I grew up watching the show. I played Pokémon Ruby on my Game Boy Advance, and you bet I downloaded Pokémon Go the day it came out. I’ve always wondered what it would be like to live with Pokémon in real-life, and the Detective Pikachu movie met all of my expectations and more. It was a super cute movie. I really hope they make many more live-action Pokémon movies in the future.
And while I’m on the topic of Pokémon, my favorite catch from Pokémon Go in May was my Shiny Lapras from Lapras Raid Day (yes, I still play the game. I’m a nerd, I know). It honestly took me forever to catch a regular Lapras. I didn’t catch one until last year. It was one of the last Pokémon I needed to complete my Kanto Pokédex. Shiny Lapras is also my favorite color, so I just love the way it looks. I thought it was funny that I caught three shinies in a row on Raid Day and my boyfriend, Kohl, didn’t catch any at all. 😂 Don’t worry, I traded one of mine to him.
Taco Bell’s $5 Grande Nachos Box
I was so excited to try this after I saw it on numerous commercials. I love guacamole, so seeing these nachos actually had it, I HAD to try them. And let me tell you, they did not disappoint! I got the shredded chicken ones, and they also come with nacho cheese sauce, shredded cheese, pico de gallo, refried beans and sour cream (and don’t forget the guac!!). I actually had these twice in one week. Funny story, the second time I went to go get them, the Taco Bell (along with all the surrounding locations) was out of nacho chips. So I went back the following day, and thank goodness they got another shipment in because those things are delicious! They come with a drink and they fill me up so I think they’re well worth $5.
I hope you enjoyed my Monthly Favorites for May. This post was chock-full of food recommendations, so be sure to try one of these out if you’re hungry! Let me know if you end up trying any of these, and let me know what things you’re currently loving in the comments!
Until next time,
Here are my favorite things from February in food and entertainment.
