My 2019 Reading List
I’ve loved to read my whole life. Everyone else hated those reading days and Accelerated Reader goals in school, but I (secretly) loved them. If you’ve read my 2019 goals post, you’d know I’m trying to read at least one book per month this year.
Reading is something that I’ve pushed off as I’ve gotten older because I’ve told myself that I “don’t have time” to read a book. Lately I’ve realized that it’s not that hard to spend 20 minutes reading in the morning or before bed. I’ve learned that sometimes you’ve just got to make time to do more of the things you enjoy.
Here are the books I want to read this year (in no particular order):
1. The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn
This is the book I’m currently reading. I recently downloaded the Libby app so I could read e-books for free through my local library, and I found this on the ‘popular’ list. It took me a minute to get into it, but now I’m sucked in and I need to know if the main character is crazy or not. If you like mysteries and thrillers, then this one is for you.
2. Catcher by Kalyn Nicholson
This book was written by one of my favorite Youtubers, so I had to request it for Christmas. Kalyn Nicholson is one of the most inspirational people I know, and her whole life is aesthetically pleasing. I can’t wait to see what her creative writing style is like.
3. Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis
I’ve seen so many people suggest this book lately, so I had to add it to the list. It’s considered a self-help book and is supposed to be very empowering. I’m excited for this one.
4. Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert
I’ve also heard a lot of great things about this self-help book. This one focuses on sparking creativity which is something I feel like I could use more of this year.
5. You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero
I’ve had this one on my list for a while. The title alone is what drew me in and who doesn’t love another empowering book?
6. Five Feet Apart by Rachael Lippincott
I discovered this one after I saw the trailer for the upcoming movie. The movie will star one of my favorite actors, Cole Sprouse, so I want to read this one before the movie comes out.
7. The Kill Order by James Dashner
I read the Maze Runner series in high school, but I never got around to reading the prequel. I’m hoping this one is as good as the others.
8. Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon
I randomly remembered seeing my roommate staying up late to read this book, just so she could finish it before she watched the movie. Now I’m going to have to do the same!
9. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han
I really liked this movie when it first came out on Netflix. I saw that there were other books in the series, so I figure I might as well start reading the series before the other movies come out.
10. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson
I’ve heard a lot of good things about this book. I think more often than not I care too much about what others think of me. I think this book would be a good read for me.
11. The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson
I randomly came across this book and the summary sounded so interesting to me. I like a lot of science fiction books, so I’m excited to add this one to the list.
12. The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin
I came across this book and the summary sounded similar to what I’m doing with the 101 Things in 1001 Days challenge. Speaking of which, if I read all 12 books on this list, I’ll be over halfway to my reading goal for that challenge!
